Use These Words in Your Copy to Really Get Customers’ Attention

In order to be effective, your website copy and sales pages need to have some pretty compelling language.

Unfortunately, overly sales-y tactics are often ignored. People turn a blind eye to words like Buy! Sign Up! And Subscribe!

Instead of using strong, sales words to try and persuade people, try these words to really get your customers’ attention.

Words that increase sales

Sale. Everyone knows what this means. It has the power to catch attention and motivate people to take action.

Off. As is dollars off or percentage off. This portrays the reduction in price, and what a good deal something is.

New. Brand new, improved, the latest model. All these things encourage people to capitalize on the latest thing.

Words that invoke curiosity

Be the first. This phrase alludes to something new and exclusive.

Instantly. Consumers and readers all want instant gratification, and the word instantly tells people how they’ll get whatever you’re pushing.

Best sellers. Tells consumers that something is desirable and makes them want to see what the hype is all about.

Improvement. This word makes people think something is new, better than it used to be.

Words that show exclusivity

Exclusive. This tells readers that something is special, that not everyone can get it. It typically makes people want to check it out as quickly as possible.

Members only. This phrase can successfully create a sense of community and belonging. It tells people that there’s going to be something special for joining.

Words that show lack of risk

Guaranteed. Who doesn’t like a good guarantee? A guarantee gives people security and reassurance.

Risk-free. This goes with the previous word.  Risk-free helps people feel like there’s nothing to worry about, and helps diffuse and skepticism.

When you’re too sales-y, your content can come off as spam and people will immediately turn a blind eye. Instead, focus on words that increase sales without being pushy, words that invoke curiosity, words that show exclusivity and words that help eliminate risk to get your customers’ attention.
