What does this mean? It means using calls to action that get attention, and get clicked and convert like crazy. Here are 4 tips that will help you create compelling, clickable calls to action for your email marketing.

 

#1 Stick to one goal

 

When you give too many choices, people tend to get overwhelmed and end up taking no action at all. Instead, focus on just one goal, action or objective in your emails.

 

You can place your button or link a few times throughout your copy (in fact, it’s even recommended by copywriting expert Ray Edwards to place a minimum of 3 links of the same call to action in your email body) but use the same call to action throughout the same email.

#2 Get specific

 

A call to action isn’t the place to get fancy or cute. It also isn’t a place to get vague.

 

In fact, if it’s too vague, people may not know what you want them to do. Make sure you’re using language that is clear and to the point. In other words, tell them exactly what you want them to do.

It’s called a call to action for a reason. You’re literally calling on your audience to take an action. So include compelling verbs in your copy like Grab, Get, Join, Start or Learn. Try to avoid general verbs like that have been overused Submit or Subscribe.

Whether you use a hyperlink or a button, it should be obvious what you want the reader to do. Make your links look like they are links. Underline them. Bold them. Make them a blue. If you’re using a button, choose a color that stands out against your background. Studies have shown that red and orange buttons do best.
