Creating an Opt-in Thank You Page
You spend all that time coming up with the perfect lead magnet for your business. Then someone signs up, gets on your list, and you’re thrilled. But then what?
Unfortunately, many businesses miss an opportunity here. After someone sign ups, if you don’t have a compelling thank you page, you could be missing out on a ton of conversions.
Why a Thank You Page?
Basically a thank you page is a page you can redirect subscribers to once they successfully sign up for something. It gives them a confirmation that their request was successful.
But it’s also more than that. It’s prime real estate in the marketing world.
When someone signs up for something from you, it means they want to hear from you. They took the time to enter their info. This is the best time to take advantage of their attention. It’s the perfect time to engage people, get them to follow you or take them deeper into a sales funnel.
What to Put on a Thank You Page
Your thank you page should, of course, include a thank you. The wording should help reinforce what the person just did. For example, thank you for signing up, or thank you for subscribing.
It should also tell them how to proceed. Maybe you need them to download something or visit a URL. Make sure it’s clear what you want people to do.
Lastly, it should have a call to action. This is where many people miss an opportunity. Tell people exactly what you want them to do.
What can you use your thank you page for? Here are some ideas:
Share additional resources. Direct people to your best blog posts or a resources page with affiliate links. You could also use it as a way to answer FAQs.
Invite them to connect on social media. Not everyone who reads your website follows you on social media. Add your links and invite people to connect with you on various platforms.
Ask them to share
Add share buttons, a pinnable image or tweets to make it easy for people to share your content with others. People don’t often think to share with their friends, but if you make it easy for them and ask them to share, they are much more likely to do so.
Present a tripwire offer
You can use this opportunity to present a small, no brainer offer. It’s a great way to get people used to buying from you, and an inexpensive offer is a great way to get people into your sales funnel.
Show related offers
If people got to your thank you page because they bought something, show them related products or an upsell.
Present a survey
If you really want to know what types of products, offers and even content your actual audience wants, now is a great time to ask them. Include a short survey that won’t take up too much time but will give you a lot of valuable information.
You likely spent time creating a great optin incentive that will entice visitors to sign up for your list. And once they sign up, they’re likely taken to some sort of thank you page. But if you’re still using the stock thank you page from your email responder, you could be losing out on conversions and sales. Customize your thank you page and use it to offer more info, connect with your audience even more or get them into your funnels.
