You’re already blogging to bring your business attention.

And you love it helps you educate your potential customers, drive traffic back to your site and show people what an expert you are in your industry.

But you want to do more.

Enter: Vlogging. That’s right. With a V.

What is Vlogging?

Think of vlogging as a blog in video form. Because that’s pretty much what it is! Anything you’d share in a blog, you can share in a vlog.

Vlogs should be informative, entertaining and captivating. They should not, on the other hand, be overly-promotional. While it’s okay to throw in a product mention very sparingly, vlogs are not advertisements. They are simply your blog in video form.

Why Should You Vlog?

Now, why should you start vlogging? If you’re already sharing your information and more on your blog, why add in a vlog?

Well, there are a few reasons

#1 Vlogging helps you reach more people. Recording a video and sharing it on sites like YouTube allows you to reach even more people.

#2 Different formats for different people. While some people prefer blogs and like to read, others prefer to watch and listen. Vlogging, even reusing your same blog content, will help you reach those people who’d rather not read a post.

#3 Connect with your audience. There’s something about seeing your face and actually listening to you talk. It really helps your audience get to know you and feel like they can relate to your business more.

Getting Started With Vlogging

Getting started doesn’t have to be difficult. Here are 5 tools that can help you start vlogging today.

YouTube

YouTube is great for vlogging because it’s run by Google, and has the power of the world’s biggest search engine behind it.

To easily get started, all you need is your computer’s camera and Screencast-O-Matic. They have a free account that lets you record up to 15-minute videos, and publish directly to YouTube.

Google Hangouts, Blab, Periscope, Facebook Live

All 4 of these tools will allow you to live broadcast your vlog. Think of your own audience and where they’d hang out most. If it’s Google+, start with Hangouts. If it’s Facebook, try Facebook Live.

What to Vlog About

You can start by repurposing your blog posts into videos.

Beyond that, you can do how-to, demonstrative videos, customer testimonials, instructional videos on your products, a behind the scenes look at your business. Vlogging is open to many types of videos, as long as they are valuable to your followers. Remember, vlogging isn’t all about self-promotions!

Is your business vlogging? You should be! Adding a vlog will help you reach more people and allow people to get to know you better and trust you more. Start simple by reusing your blog posts and creating videos from them.
