3 Reasons Why Your Website is an Important Investment

Just the other day I was in a Facebook Group where I noticed advice from an entrepreneur. She said in summation that “websites are so 90’s” and my jaw hit the floor. While her intentions were probably not bad, this is so incredibly untrue, it actually hurts. To be fair, she may have been burned by a bad website investment, or by a website development without strategy for growth. Websites are not 90’s fads. You know what IS a 90’s fad? Bad websites with static content, messy content, tons of paid advertisements, I could go on all day! Websites are a growing, important tool for a variety of reasons. So let’s dive into our 5 main reasons as to why investing into your website is so important.

Write a blog.

A blog is a great place to show your expertise and deliver tons of value for your customers and clients. Blog posts can be shared on social media, turned into podcast or vlog content, put together into a free or paid eBook. The possibilities are endless with content. Also, if optimized for the right keywords, blog content can help continually bring in new readers through Google searches.

Guest blog.

Other than writing on your own blog, you can also write for other blogs. Getting featured as a guest author on other blogs in your industry will help get you, and your expertise, in front of a new audience. It’s a great way to further expand your reach and get seen by people who previously didn’t know your business existed.

Create video tutorials.

Video tutorials, either prerecorded or live, don’t require a ton of production equipment. You can do them with just your smart phone or laptop! Create videos that teach, demonstrate, answer questions or give out useful information. You can share them on your blog, social media channels, post them on YouTube. You can do live videos via YouTube Live or Facebook Live. Videos are a great way to connect with people and build up a relationship with them. When they continually see your face and hear your voice, they begin to trust you more.

Build an email list.

An email list is a list full of people who signed up because they are interested in your business.  They WANT to hear from you. Send business updates, news about sales, useful information. Use your email list to offer value and build relationships with your customers.

Interact in Facebook groups.

Open to the public or closed unless you’re approved to join, there’s a Facebook group for just about any industry. Search for groups in your industry where your ideal customers are already active. Begin participating, answer questions and offer value. Do not join groups with the sole intention of making sales; it comes off as spammy and it’s not a good way to market your business. Instead, be helpful and make connections with people who will come to trust you and become your lasting customers.

Marketing your business online is necessary for the success of your business. Luckily, it doesn’t have to be costly. These 5 marketing methods are either low-cost or totally free, and they’re all extremely effective.
